How To Disassemble Blackberry 8900 | Remove And Clean Trackball Tutorial Video

I done this before when I fixed the trackball of my Blackberry Pearl 8100, Curve 8320 and did it again earlier for my Balckberry 8900. The problem with these blackberry phones is the “trackball.” The trackball is like a PC mouse, it become unresponsive when dust and dirt sticks to its scrolls. Disassembling and cleaning a PC mouse trackball and scrolls is easy. Unlike Blackberry trackball which is so tiny to disassemble that’s why we resort to place a new one instead of cleaning it. So how can you clean the trackball to make it functional again? The solution is easy.

First, you need to know how to disassemble or remove the screws of your phone. There are many video tutorial on how to disassemble a blackberry phone on youtube and some video sharing sites. But before you do this, your phone is under warranty and this procedure will void it. So do this at your own risk.

Second, watch carefully and follow the instructions well so you will not damage your phone.

Third, remove the trackball from the phone and then use a needle to release the metal lock so you can remove the scrolls and the trackball. Use an alcohol and a clean clothe to clean the scrolls and trackball. Put it back together and assemble your phone again.

You will save some bucks buying a new trackball with this procedure. But I’m warning you, don’t try this if you don’t want to damage your phone.
