The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is asking the consumers to stop using and return their General Electric (GE) 12-cup digital coffee makers (model no. 169164 and model no. 169165) which they bought at Walmart Stores. According to CPSC, Walmart has receives 83 reports of overheating, smoking, melting, burning and fire, including three reports of minor burn injuries to consumers. Apple unveiled “Magic Mouse,” the world’s first multitouch wireless mouse. This new device is basically the same as the trackpad on our Macbook. Magic Mouse has multi-finger swipes and taps to navigate their Mac and perform basic functions. It also feature a 360 degrees accelerated scrolling for a Web page, photo viewer, or document using a single finger, or quickly scroll up and down in a Web browser by simply swiping two fingers vertically across the top of the mouse.
According to Apple, the new Magic Mouse runs on Mac OS X Leopard or Snow Leopard and is available for free with the new iMacs and can be purchased separately for $69. It is powered by a set of AA batteries, which will last for four months of battery life. Read the rest of this entry »
Gamers get ready because Sony has announced a 250GB PS3 Slim will hit the stores on November 3, 2009 and will sell for $349.99. The extra 130GB disk space from the previous 120GB version will give users more storage space for photos, movies and games. The only difference between the 120GB version from the 250GB is the Blu-ray drive but everything else about the console will remain identical. Wi-Fi Alliance has announced a new way of connecting with friends using Wi-Fi Direct program in a new kind of wi-fi network. According to Wi-Fi Allince press release, Wi-Fi Direct device compliant such as mobile phones, cameras, printers, and notebook computers, to human interface devices such as keyboards and headphones can now connect in pairs or in groups. It only needs only one of the devices to establish the peer-to-peer connection. Wi-Fi Direct will include support for WPA2 (Wi-Fi Protected Access 2) and AES encryption for more secure connections.
“With Wi-Fi technology already shipping in millions of consumer electronics devices and handsets every year, this is a terrific innovation for the industry,” said Victoria Fodale, senior analyst and market intelligence manager at In-Stat. “Empowering devices to move content and share applications without having to join a network brings even more convenience and utility to Wi-Fi-enabled devices.”
Wi-Fi Alliance plans to publish its peer-to-peer specification upon completion, and will begin certifying devices for the Wi-Fi Direct designation in 2010. Read the rest of this entry »
